EFPA have formalised a mutual recognition agreement with the Personal Finance Society to secure PFS members a vital foothold in Europe. Diploma and Advanced Diploma qualifications are now aligned and recognised through the equivalent European financial planning standards, which are fully, or part accredited by the main European regulators.
From 1 March 2018 Personal Finance Society members holding the Diploma in Financial Planning or Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning will be granted European Financial Advisor™ certification and eligibility to use the EFA designation.
Members holding the Advanced Diploma will be granted European Financial Planner™ certification and eligibility to use the EFP designation.
This new certification, along with the ability to display this European professional designation, is another benefit of membership for Personal Finance Society members.
The purpose of this agreement with PFS is to help deliver shared vision of engaging consumers with high quality and trusted professional financial advice. It also gives UK advisers greater certainty in advance of Brexit.
This agreement will help ensure that consumers who wish to access advice from UK advisers, or maintain existing relationships in a post-Brexit environment, will be able to do so as part of an all-embracing quality standard across Europe.
