Why am I an EFA, what benefits are there for my clients and for me?
“Standing out” and “seal of guarantee”, those are the two phrases I would choose if I had to summarise in a few words the reason why being an EFA is beneficial both for my professional development and for my clients. Leaving aside the compulsory training for financial advisors established by MIFID 2, which has already turned the EFA certificate into a competitive advantage for its holder, the afore mentioned ideas do condense, as I see it, the overall benefits of being an EFA.
Standing out, since holding an EFA certificate allows us professionals to make a difference within the maze of roles and entities in the market that claim to offer financial advice, in many occasions without actually defining the real connotations beyond the concept for the customer. Thus, as EFA certificate holders, we are part of a brand which is already internationally acknowledged, has recognisable standards, and its own communication policies, so we can use that brand as the definitive tool to convey a message to our clients about our know-how and capabilities or expected conduct, even before any actual advisory service is provided.
